| Abstract/Summary |
This research sought to investigate a better precursor for platinum (Pt) intermetallic nanoparticles that can be utilized as anode electrocatalysts in fuel cells. The compound Pt
hexafluoroacetylacetonate can be used as a Pt intermetallic precursor for making PtPb nanoparticles when using appropriate washes (methanol usage and hexane avoidance). Modifying the standard
procedures for the synthesis of PtPb nanoparticle synthesis may be useful in future work where organic ligands must be avoided in order to achieve room temperature particle
crystallization.
